Day 4 - Editing

Day 4 - Editing
Today i had to move onto the fight scenes. For this i need quick short clips so that it sticks with the tempo of the song and also shows this part as the main part of the song.
Quick cuts.

Adding a blue tint to all fighting clips to show it as dark and depressing.

Layering clips to make it flow into preformance clips.

I encountered a problem with one of the captured clips.

I had to find this clip manually through the Finder.

I started to edit the projection clips so that i could easily cut the bits i need a drag it into the timeline.

I increased the brightness and contrast so that we could see the projection easily and also see Lily in the corner.

Started to crop the clip to cut out the edges that had a black background.

Anchor point tool helped me to move the clip around on the viewer

Iused RGB balance to increase the blues and highlights.

Short fast cuts for the fight scenes.

Layered shots to add dramatic effect as it is a fight scene.

I cut parts i needed from the performance footage and then dragged it onto the timeline.

Day 3 - Editing

Day 3 - Editing
Today I moved onto the performance part of the music video. I had to move onto the part after the introduction.

I used the speed control for the first performance clip to give a fast forwarding effect just before the Singer starts to sing.

The clip just after the fast one was slowed down. I did this by increasing the duration.

I used the Soft Focus effect on all my performance videos to give the singer look innocent but the vibrant lights make her look bold and hyper-real.

Layering clips. Used opacity

Bad film effect to show it was set in the past.

This was happy scenes that the artist experinced. I also had to promote the artist image by showing as artistic, creative and vintage. So for this I increased the green and red but decreased the blue. I also increased the contrast.

I added noise to this clip to make it look vintage

This was layered below the clip with added noise and increased the red and green. This again makes the clip look vintage.

This tool gave me more control over the transition times.

Day 2 - Editing

Day 2 - Editing
Today i have decided to start editing and creating the intro to the music video. This part is purly the narrative and will set the story for the entire music video. I will use dark defocus clips to resemble drunkenness, memory, depression and regret.
RGB Balance. This is one of the main colour correction effects I have used for all the intro clips. It allowed me to increase the deep dark blues in the image to reflect a dark and depressing mind set.

I also used the 'Brightness and Contrast' tool through out the entire music video. I decreased the brightness and increased contrast to bring the actors out of the background.
I also used image control to increase the highlights mid-tones and then decrease the blacks to again bring out only the important features of the clip.
COlor Balance was used on the clips with Charlie looking at the ring. This allowed me to increase the Blue even more.

I used two transitions through out the entire music video. Additive Dissolve was used when clips were layered on top of each other as it has a diffuse effect when it transitions. Cross dissolved was used when two clips were next to each other.

I started to realise that adding effects first would mean that every time I moved the clip I would have to render it over and over again. So i changed the render mode to Unlimited RT.

I used the colour corrector wheel to give a Blue hue to the clips and the increased mid-tones and decreased blacks.

I used the opacity settings in 'Motion' to layer clips on top of each other to make the video flow as it has to reflect the tempo of the music video.

I used the Bad Film effect when the music gets louder at the beginning to show that it is a memory and that someone is reflecting on what happened.
